Getting to Marbella

departure_board

It is a 45 minute drive from Malaga airport to Marbella.

We recommend taking the Avanza bus, which is approximately 7euros each way.

  • Tickets will become available from this website one month before travel date.
  • You can also buy tickets on the day of travel. The bus stop is located on the forecourt outside the new Malaga Airport Terminal 3, where you’ll also see a ticket office/booth from which you can purchase your tickets for the journey if not yet done so.

Other options include taxi from the airport (a taxi rank can be found outside Arrivals) or hiring a car for the weekend.

Accommodation

The wedding venue does not provide accommodation, therefore we recommend staying in Marbella for the weekend, for ease of getting to the wedding venue.

There are plenty of AirBnBs and hotels in Marbella to choose from.

Our chosen wedding hotel is Occidental Puerto Banús. If you would like to stay in this hotel with us and the wedding party, please book via this link. We have negotiated a 10% discount for our wedding guests, please use this Coupon Code in the Special Codes section of the booking process: SUEVE24.
We recommend booking as soon as possible to secure the best possible rates. Please note it is a minimum stay of 3 nights at this hotel.

Ceremonies Explained

The Milni

This is an Indian tradition, dating back to when the groom's parents would arrive at the bride's house. There is lots of laughter and cheering, the family elders exchange flower garlands welcoming each other into the family, and the bride's sister offers flowers and sweets to the groom.

The Vedic Ceremony

This is a Hindu ceremony, signifying spiritual union between bride and groom, as they become husband and wife. There are prayers welcoming the groom into the bride’s home, followed by the bride and groom taking seven steps around a fire, symbolising seven vows they will make to each other.

The Civil Ceremony

This is where the bride and groom will make their vows to each other in front of their most beloved. They will walk down the aisle, exchange rings and say the “I do’s!”

It is a 10 minute drive from Marbella town to the venue. We will be liaising with a taxi company to take our guests to the venue, and will provide contact details for the taxi company nearer the time.

There is also Uber and Bolt available in Marbella.

The dress code is Summer Smart Wear, e.g. jacket and chinos, or summer dress. Ties are not required!

We will be wearing traditional Indian clothes in the morning, followed by white dress and light suit in the evening. If you would also like to wear traditional Indian clothes this is encouraged, there will be allocated areas at the venue where you can get changed and leave your change of clothes.

Radha will be wearing red and gold for the Vedic Ceremony, and white for the Civil Ceremony and Reception.

Please note temperatures in Spain at the end of May are usually mid-twenties, so we advise wearing clothes to keep cool. However, temperatures do drop to around fifteen degrees when the sun sets, so you may wish to bring a jacket for the evening!

Dress code for the beach party on Monday is casual beach wear.

Please arrive at 14.30 to settle in and find your seats. The Vedic Ceremony will be starting promptly at 15.00.

The Wedding Dinner and speeches will finish at 10.30pm, however the party will continue until 3am!
